Halloween is a big deal around here! As soon there is even a hint of fall in the air, I am already planning my Halloween decorations and my kids are picking out their costumes! But this year I ran into a bit of a problem. My youngest is a bit afraid of all of the spooky decor and we were all a little nervous about how she would feel about a headless horseman in her front yard haha!
We decided that we would all take a trip to The Home Depot so we could all pick out our Halloween decor as a family! I was hoping that if I included her in the decorating process, she wouldn’t be scared. Guess what?
It totally worked!
Finding Kid-Friendly Decor
We spent Saturday afternoon at The Home Depot looking at all of the Halloween decor and found the best stuff! Mallory and I styled the spooky decorations while the kids were at school and they were so excited when they got home.
When it comes to styling my home for holidays, I love to go big! My best tip is to find some larger decor items that can stay with you for years to come. Pieces like this headless horseman and the spiders make such a HUGE impact and I know will be a part of my Halloween decor each year. The Home Depot has several large holiday accents (I almost got this pirate ship!) that will make decorating your home for Halloween so easy!
To add some Halloween magic to the inside of my home, the first pieces I switch out are the items on my mantel because it is the main focal point in the room! Everything from the black candlesticks to the skulls are from The Home Depot! How fun are these headstones?
These bats I picked up last minute and I am so glad I did! I love how it adds height since the fireplace is so tall. If you are into more minimal Halloween decor, these would be the perfect touch! Plus, they are so easy to put up so you can put them anywhere in your home. I may add these to our older kid’s room next!
A few of our neighbors have even popped by to tell us how much they love our decor. It has really set the tone for our street and now our neighbors are starting to put up their Halloween items as well!
